With every fight I get better, and if I'm lucky, I'll run into a fellow Pirate that will send me a message or pull me into a private convo and actually let me know how I messed up. It's been a great learning experience for me and I plan on to continue this journey. I know a lot of people could care less about this, but I felt I had to share my experience thus far and will definitely post again as my life out here matures. So to the Pirates out there, I salute you and now I know why you love what you do. May your kills be bountiful and your space tears be plenty.
P.S. To the haters of Low-Sec pilots, if you can get over losing your pixels, a lot of these people out here are actually really cool if you actually just talk to them instead of crying after losing your ship/pod ;) Good post and welcome to where the fun begins.
There is a good way to get better at EVE pvp faster than just straight up practice. Get yourself a copy of FRAPS (or similar) and record all your fights, most of which will be footage only you will ever see. If you're anything like me then watching the first few recordings back you will hardly believe the decisions this clown is making and so you won't want to show the early stuff to ANYONE (or to everyone depending on your pride level). Critically though you'll see your mistakes on the replay that seemed like a good idea when you did it in real time and these are the mistakes that take the longest to correct because the situation changes so quickly and you forget what your other options were. Much better to replay fights repeatedly so you can see what you did badly, what you did well and when it would have been better to just bend over and practice your deep breathing exercises.
Many people get risk averse in this game and that makes people also averse to trial and error since errors are expensive. FRAPS will let you effectively lose one ship multiple times and can even lead to some of those lovely pvp videos later on once you start getting footage you are proud of.
And you're right most of the people who know how to have fun in this game live in low, so if you're really loving it down here then chances are you belong in the fun bunch. Fly Dangerous o7. |
